History:
Disney Wish is the fifth ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet and represents a new generation of Disney cruise experiences. Built by the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, the ship was delivered in June 2022 and embarked on its maiden voyage on July 14, 2022. Disney Wish is the first in the Triton class, marking a major evolution in both size and technology for Disney Cruise Line. At approximately 144,000 gross tons and 341 meters long, the ship can accommodate 4,000 passengers and over 1,500 crew members.
The ship’s design is inspired by fairy tales and fantasy, with a strong emphasis on immersive storytelling. It features a grand atrium inspired by Cinderella’s castle, Marvel and Star Wars-themed kids’ zones, and the AquaMouse — Disney’s first-ever attraction at sea, combining a water slide with animated storytelling. Guests can dine in restaurants themed after Frozen, Marvel superheroes, and classic Disney films, with theatrical dining experiences unique to Disney Wish.
Disney Wish is also notable for being powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), making it the first Disney ship to use this cleaner fuel alternative, reflecting the company’s push toward sustainability. The ship primarily sails 3- and 4-night cruises from Port Canaveral to the Bahamas, including Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay.
